Cinemagic is an award winning Children’s Film Festival that uses the magic of film, television and all forms of moving image to entertain, educate and inspire.
Established in 1989, Cinemagic has developed a worldwide reputation for excellence in children’s programming. Over the last 18 years the festival has grown in stature, gained international recognition and we are now the largest festival of our kind in the UK and Ireland.
Cinemagic is a festival designed for and by young people. Over the past eighteen years our dedicated Young Film Consultants and Young Juries have helped us create the very best film and workshop programmes as well as shaping the direction and promotion of all festival activities.
The festival caters for all young people (aged between 4 and 25) with any range of film and television interest – whether they want to watch and enjoy, create their own work or take things a stage further and find out more about a possible career in the film or television industries.
While the core festival events are in Belfast, Cinemagic is equally committed to providing opportunities for young people in other regions.
The Cinemagic Outreach and Education department works throughout the year with school and youth groups across Northern Ireland offering a packed programme of exciting and hands on educational opportunities for teachers and students, ranging from careers events to production training and from film criticism to media literacy workshops with top industry professionals.
