Cinemagic uses the magic of film and all forms of the moving image to entertain educate and inspire. Cinemagic strongly believes that film represents much more than entertainment - the medium of film offers the most accessible way to learn about and stimulate discussion among young people about the personal and world issues that are currently important to them.
Cinemagic programmes and delivers an extensive range of educational films from around the world, workshops, masterclasses and discussions throughout the year and during the Belfast Cinemagic film festival in November and December for young people aged 4-25. Education activities are focused on the different curriculum levels for nursery, primary and post-primary schools and colleges.
A touring programme visits schools across the province and workshops are hosted by top industry professionals who illustrate various techniques in a range of cinematic disciplines and offer fun and learning in the classroom!
One and two day workshops are available during the festival period in Belfast offering hands on experience in scriptwriting, directing, acting, documentary film making, and discussions on topics such as film funding, journalism and post screening talks on various foreign language films. Representatives from production companies, scriptwriting professionals and film experts host elements of the workshops and share top tips with the young people involved.
