Cinemagic will return to  LA for its 9th year in March 2018.

Based in Northern Ireland, with a 25-year history, Cinemagic is a film charity with a unique mission to educate, inspire and motivate over 40,000 young people a year.  Our newest goal is to build on our Belfast approach by growing Cinemagic Los Angeles, reaching out to numerous inner-city schools, after-school programs and community groups to help ambitious young people who might lack opportunity or resources to work directly with the incredible creative and professional talent in LA in the film and television industries.

Cinemagic will work with some of the most socially and economically disadvantaged youth in Watts, Hamilton High School, New Roads and engage participants from these areas with young people from similar communities in Northern Ireland. Over  11 days they will  critique films, participate in industry masterclasses and workshops, participate in tours to HBO, FOX, The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, Mattel, Aero Film, The Jim Henson Company, United Talent, Pepperdine University, Warner Bros, New York Film Academy, Variety Magazine. The young people from different communities will work together, learn how to present together and most importantly develop personal development and employability skills.

The festival activity will incorporate a wide variety of cultural activity by engaging with respected professionals who will host masterclasses, Q&A’s, workshops and allow the young people to develop their skills on set. Cinemagic will enable young people to explore different cultures and provide a vehicle to educate and enlighten them as they will be given new opportunities whilst showcasing their work and talents to the film industry.
