Film Club

Film Club

South Belfast MLA Anna Lo, Richard Williams, Northern Ireland Screen and Harberton School Film Club members

Funding from Northern Ireland Screen and the Department of Culture, Arts and Leisure has enabled Cinemagic to provide primary and post-primary schools with the necessary support to run a weekly or fortnightly After School Film Club as part of extended school day activities*.

In order to set up a Film Club a teacher must be prepared to organize and run the club. Initial training, ongoing support and advice will be provided throughout the project by Cinemagic. Schools must also have a suitable space that has a digital projector, DVD player, speakers and a screen or blank wall, where the film club can meet. Schools are able to choose and order films directly from FILMCLUB (www.filmclub.org) and have access to a catalogue of 4000 films. At each meeting of the Film Club the young people have the opportunity to view and discuss a film and place individual film reviews online. A similar project is running in England and for further information visit www.filmclub.org

*This offer is open only to schools that have received Extended School Day funding. Email laura@cinemagic.org.uk or telephone 028 90 311 900 to request an application form.
