Forty pupils from Nettlefield Primary School and Cranmore Integrated Primary School enjoyed a News and Sports Journalism Workshop at George Best Belfast City Airport as part of the launch of the Cinemagic U12's Festival.
The young budding presenters worked alongside Paul Reilly, UTV News Reporter and Denise Watson, UTV Sports Reporter, who talked about their roles in the world of broadcast journalism.
The young people learned about news and sports presenting, gathering stories, interview technique and top tips on pursuing a career in the industry.
Joan Burney Keatings MBE, Cinemagic Chief Executive said:
“We were delighted to offer local school children the chance to visit George Best Belfast City Airport for a special workshop marking the launch of the October programme for under 12s and primary schools. The workshop kindly hosted by Paul Reilly and Denise Watson provided a fun and educational experience for the young people who proved to be very talented young broadcast journalists!”.
Michelle Hatfield, Director of Corporate Responsibility at Belfast City Airport, commented on thr partnership with Cinemagic:
“One of the aims of the airport’s Community Fund is to help increase access to imaginative and memorable experiences for young people in the local community and to create a lasting legacy. It is for this reason we are so delighted to partner Cinemagic across the wonderful programme of events, which not only educate but entertain all who partake. We look forward to working further with Cinemagic and welcoming the young people and their families as the airport hosts more festival events.”
