CineSeekers Film Club to screen Giovanni’s Island

The Cinemagic CineSeekers Film Club is a monthly film event for young people. Based in QFT, the club's ethos is central to Cinemagic's ethos to promote and celebrate a diverse and varied range of international children's films.
By providing our young audience with a regular outlet for world cinema, our aim is to develop and nurture a broader appreciation, understanding and love of film; as well as celebrating the stories, peoples and cultures from around the globe. The first film is Giovanni's Island which has received widespread critical acclaim.

In the aftermath of the most devastating conflict mankind had ever experienced, the tiny island of Shikotan became part of the Sakhalin Oblast... and on this forgotten border in a remote corner of the world, friendship among children from two different countries timidly blossomed, striving to overcome language barriers and the waves of history. The April Cinemagic CineSeekers Cinema Club film (25th April) is the French made ‘A Cat in Paris’ (Dir: Jean-Loup Felicioli, Alain Gagnol) which tells the tale set in Paris about cat who lives a secret life as a cat burglar's aide who must come to the rescue of Zoe, the little girl he lives with, after she falls into a gangster's clutches.
