Cinemagic’s Holly Enjoys The Red Carpet Experience at BAFTA’s Children’s Awards

Posted on 24th November 2015 | Cinemagic News

8 year old, Holly McLaughlin, a pupil at Our Lady’s Girls’ Primary School, Belfast, had a very special role at the 20th British Academy Children’s Awards in London last weekend!

Holly was the Cinemagic Young Reporter at the annual awards that recognise and celebrate excellence within children’s film, television and games. Holly’s role as a Cinemagic Young Consultant this summer earned her a spot on the red carpet, mingling with the stars, participating in a special BAFTA Kids TV presenting masterclass with Ben Shires and Katie Thistleton and announcing the BAFTA Kids Vote for Film, which went this year to Minions. The ceremony, hosted by Doc Brown, took place at Roundhouse, London.

The Cinemagic Young Consultants initiative sponsored by Gentle Dental Care Belfast, gave 100 young people the chance to view films from around the world, submitted for the annual Cinemagic International Film and Television for Young People, with a view to selecting a series of films for the in-competition section of the world cinema programme. Young people had the chance to discuss movies and the world of filmmaking over the course of two action packed days in July.

Holly met with other young people at the BAFTA Kids event in London, and had the chance to record red carpet links and to get autographs and photos with VIPs including Naomi Wilkinson and Radzi Chinyanganya from CBBC programme WILD.

Holly said “I had an amazing time at the BAFTA Children’s Awards and red carpet experience in London. It was great fun being part of the TV presenting masterclass and so exciting getting to announce the winner of the Kids Vote at the awards. The experience at Cinemagic really helped me prepare for the activities in London and I enjoyed every minute of it.”
