Dublin Masterclasses to Inspire Young People

The Cinemagic Dublin Masterclasses return in May for 8-11 year olds and 16-25 year olds! Young people can learn about various film and television disciplines including Directing and Writing, Casting, Voice Acting, Games Development and Animation!
The 16-25 year old masterclasses will include: Casting with Louise Kiely: Louise trained at the Gaiety School of Acting and set up ‘Louise Kiely Casting’ in 2005. Louise will share her knowledge and experience with a group of aspiring actors. Actors will be asked to perform and will be given feedback and advice on their performance. Tuesday, May 5th at 10am -1pm.
Directing and script writing with Michael Lennox and Ronan Blaney: Award-winning duo Michael Lennox and Ronan Blaney have had an extremely successful year with their short film Boogaloo and Graham. Michael and Ronan will host a masterclass for aspiring actors and writers who wish to gain insight and advice from two of the top professionals working in the Irish film industry. Tuesday, May 5th at 2pm – 5pm.

There are also chances for the under 12s to get involved too with a ‘Junior Talent Labs’ designed especially for ages 8-11 years. They can explore:
Voice acting with Marc Silk: Join voice actor Marc Silk for a fun-filled voice acting workshop. Learn how to put on the voices of some of your favourite animated characters! Saturday, May 16th at 10 am – 1 pm at Filmbase.
Introduction to App and Game development with Benjamin Donoghue: Learn how computer game characters are brought to life and how we are able to make them move, run, jump across the screen. Saturday, May 16th at 2 pm – 5 pm at Filmbase.

Film events with accompanying workshops and introductions for secondary school pupils include French Language film Le Dernier Coup De Marteau and presentation from the Alliance Francaise Dublin (Friday 8th May), Sci-Fi film Robot Overlords (Monday 11th May) with Director Q&A from Jon Wright (who also directed hit film Grabbers), and a talk from IFCO (Fri 15th May) along with the preview of the new film ‘Bill’, the story of how hopeless lute player Bill Shakespeare left his family and home to follow his dream.
