Launch Of The Belfast Coca-Cola Cinemagic Film And Television Festival For 12-25 year olds!

Actor Luke Evans, (Immortals, Clash of The Titans), with aspiring Cinemagic filmmakers at the launch of the 2013 Belfast Coca-Cola Cinemagic Film and Television Festival for young people aged 12-25. The launch was marked with a special Q&A in Odyssey Cinemas where Luke gave young people an insight to his various acting roles and experience in the film industry. Luke is currently in Northern Ireland filming Dracula Untold.

The Coca-Cola Cinemagic Film and Television Festival for 12-25 year olds takes place in Belfast and across Northern Ireland from 18th-28th November.The programme includes new film previews, classic films, the CineFocus film jury, film & television workshops with industry professionals, education workshops and filmmaking competitions. The festival culminates with a gala awards ceremony in Belfast City Hall, at which young film talent will be recognised and the winners of the festival films announced!

The festival gala opening night film is action drama, ALL IS LOST (Universal Pictures), starring Robert Redford and there is a treat in store for fans of  THE HUNGER GAMES, with a double bill over two consecutive nights of 2012 hit THE HUNGER GAMES and the latest offering THE HUNGER GAMES:CATCHING FIRE.

Young people will enjoy a feast of film from around the world in Odyssey Cinemas and Queen’s Film Theatre including previews such as HIDE YOUR SMILING FACES, an atmospheric exploration of life and death in rural America, JIN, the new film from Reha Erdem, Turkish cinema’s great maverick movie-maker, BABY BLUES, which tells the story of a 17 year old juggling youthful desires with adult responsibilities and TOUCH OF THE LIGHT, a moving real life story of renowned blind Taiwanese piano prodigy Huang Yu-siang. Classic movies back on the silver screen include WEST SIDE STORY, EMPIRE OF THE SUN and CINEMA PARADISO. The annual Mark Kermode film night at Cinemagic features a screening of SCOTT PILGRIM VS.THE WORLD, an audience Q&A and book signing!

Talent Lab masterclasses will give young people an insight to the world of television and filmmaking, and industry professionals will share top tips about their experiences working in the industry. Masterclasses include Entertainment Production with Kieran Doherty, Directing with Tony Mitchell, Music Composition with Mark Gordon, Screenwriting with Ryan Rowe, Film Production with Gareth Ellis-Unwin and Jessica Malik, Acting with Suranne Jones, Acting with Gerard McCarthy, and Factual Documentary Presenting with Stacey Dooley. Special film events include the annual Mark Kermode film screening and Q&A, with this year’s film pick being SCOTT PILGRIM VS. THE WORLD, and a visit from esteemed film music conductor, Richard Kaufman, violinist on many of Hollywood’s best loved films including Jaws, All the President’s Men and Close Encounters of the Third Kind. Richard will host a film music workshop exploring everything from concept to performance.
