Phoenix Gas in the community
In January 2013 Cinemagic and young filmmakers from Queen’s University Belfast organised a 5 day filmmaking workshop themed on Phoenix Gas’s award winning Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme, LIFE. The young people created a short film, under the guidance of an industry professional, highlighting the importance of implementing a strong CSR policy and the benefits to organisation itself and the local communities it serves.

The 5 young filmmakers were involved in every stage of the film’s production from idea generation and scriptwriting through to production and directing. The young people had a very specific brief to create a film based on the importance of business giving something back to the community. Phoenix Gas were awarded this year with the Business in The Community ‘Big Tick’ award for Corporate Social Responsibility and the company felt that the Cinemagic film project was the ideal opportunity to create awareness around the concept. The work of the young filmmakers will be showcased at Phoenix Gas corporate events and at the annual Cinemagic Festival.
