Welcome to the Cinemagic World Screen Festival For Young Peopl

Cinemagic is currently  recruiting 25 young film enthusiasts aged 10 - 18, from all over Ireland to take on the role of film consultants and help select the films for this year’s festival. The Coca-Cola Cinemagic International Film & Television Festival for Young People will take place in Belfast  from 18th November to 4th December 2009

The award winning festival will be action packed with over one hundred film screenings including special premieres, international features, documentaries, shorts, foreign language films, industry masterclasses and competitions.

Over the course of a three day workshop beginning on Monday 6th July the young consultants will work with the Cinemagic team to help steer the choice of films for the festival, as they watch and critique films from around the globe!

Over the years Cinemagic has welcomed hundreds of young people to the young consultants’ panel and they have contributed greatly to the organisation of the festival, as well as introducing their schools and teachers to the variety of workshops and films on offer in November.

If you are a budding young film critic or you know anyone who would enjoy the opportunity to spend three days from Monday 6th July- Wednesday 8th July (inc) working with Cinemagic in Belfast, this is a fantastic opportunity to meet other like-minded young people, and have fun deciding the content of the largest film festival for young people in Ireland and the UK.

The lucky young people who become film consultants will also contribute ideas for the festival programme, and help with the marketing and promotion of festival events, as well as taking part in lots of activities in November.

Chris Shaw, Cinemagic Film Programmer explains what the young consultants can look forward to:

“Cinemagic is dedicated to providing new and exciting opportunities for young people with all interests in film, whether they want to enjoy new films or take their interest to a new level and explore career options in the film industry. The young film consultants will have the opportunity to watch international films they would not normally have access to, and the panel will represent the youth of Ireland at this year’s film festival taking place in Belfast in November.

We are looking forward to bringing together a group of enthusiastic young people to work on the festival from July through to December. The three day workshop will provide lots of opportunities for discussion and debate and provide a lively platform for young people to interact with each other and increase future paths of communication for social and educational purposes.”
